Levi Lewis

Born in Chicago and raised in Indiana, Levi Lewis III is the Founder and President of Men’s Talk, a devoted husband, mentor, leader, and advocate for men in his community.

Levi has been married to his wife, Sharla Lewis, for nearly 20 years. Throughout their marriage, Sharla has been a tremendous source of love and support and has played an active role in the growth and success of Men’s Talk. Her dedication and commitment to the organization have been an important part of its journey.

With nearly 30 years of experience serving with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Levi has had the opportunity to work with men from all walks of life. His career has allowed him to encounter men facing a variety of challenges and circumstances, strengthening his passion for encouraging, mentoring, and supporting men through life’s difficult moments.

Before beginning his career with the county, Levi worked as a certified welder in Gary, Indiana. He earned his welding certification through Job Corps in Golconda, Illinois. This early experience helped instill in him the values of discipline, hard work, perseverance, and determination—qualities that would continue to shape his life and his commitment to serving others.

The Birth of Men’s Talk

Men’s Talk was born out of an unexpected and challenging experience in Levi’s own life. That experience led him to recognize the importance of having a safe space where men could openly talk about the challenges they face, share their experiences, and support one another.

Levi decided to gather a group of men together to talk about difficult experiences and learn from one another. What began as a simple gathering and an opportunity for men to have meaningful conversations grew into something much greater.

On October 22, 2011, Men’s Talk officially began at 2705 Marquette Boulevard in South Bend, Indiana, with just seven members. Levi could not have known at the time how much the organization would grow or the impact it would have on the lives of countless men.

What started with seven men having honest conversations has grown into a lasting ministry and community built on fellowship, encouragement, accountability, transparency, and support. For 15 years, Men’s Talk has provided men with an opportunity to come together, share their stories, navigate life’s challenges, and remind one another that they do not have to face those challenges alone.

Beyond Men’s Talk

Outside of his professional and community work, Levi enjoys playing basketball, playing the keyboard, organ, and piano, and listening to smooth jazz. His love of music and sports reflects his appreciation for creativity, fellowship, and the simple joys of life.

Today, Levi continues to use his life experiences, leadership, and passion for mentorship to encourage men to grow, lead, heal, and become the best versions of themselves. Through Men’s Talk, his vision continues to be one of bringing men together, creating meaningful conversations, and building stronger men, families, and communities.

What began with seven men in 2011 has become a testament to Levi’s belief that when men come together, share their experiences, and support one another, lives can be changed.
